John Gilbert is president of NAILBA 2022

Washington DC The National Association of Independent Life Brokers announced that John Gilbert, President of National Benefit Corp. at West Des Moines, IA, as its president for 2022.

Gilbert’s professional career in financial services began in 2002 as an agent for Banker Life and Casualty, serving the primary market in Iowa with life insurance, long-term care, annuities, and medical supplements. John joined National Benefit Corp. Established in 2004 as a Marketing Consultant specializing in Annual Marketing and has held senior positions for the past 17 years. He has been active at NAILBA for a long time, serving as President of the Agency Successor Networking Group (ASNG) for the past three years, receiving the NAILBA President’s Award in 2017.

“We cannot look to the future of NAILBA without remembering those who paved the way for all of us,” Gilbert said in his president’s speech at the NAILBA Annual Meeting in November 2021. “Mooers, Lea, Lerner, Milner, Felton, Cohen, Jetter, Tessler and Gentry – these people and many, many others laid the foundation for NAILBA, and they deserve our thanks and gratitude.”

NAILBA announced earlier this week that it has entered into discussions with Finseca, the leading financial services advocacy organization, about a possible merger. As Chairman of the Board, Gilbert will play a key role in promoting the initiative.

“NAILBA needs to take a prominent role in driving distribution in this industry,” he said. “The Board of Directors actively discusses and explores all opportunities to enhance and amplify our voice as the preeminent independent life insurance distribution association.”

Gilbert also expressed his commitment to the members of NAILBA, who often engage with families during their difficult times.

“We need to honor the past and the accomplishments of so many, while ensuring that independent distribution always focuses on how we deliver checks to orphans, widows and business owners in their time of greatest need. This is what NAILBA is working on and what we will spend our energy trying to deliver to our membership.”

In addition to his leadership at NAILBA, Gilbert has also been active in the local NAIFA chapter and was the 2016 President of TYGERS, a study group of second and third generation insurance professionals. He attended Northwest Missouri and Iowa State Universities and is a Series 6, 63, and Life and Health licensed. He lives in West Des Moines, IA with his wife, Lindsay, and their three children.
