According to reports, the instant messaging platform has come up with fresh rules to restrict forwarding of all messages to just one group at a time in order to limit spamming contacts. The restrictions have been enabled on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS for Android 188.8.131.52 and iPhone 184.108.40.206.

WABetaInfothe alert on the screen reads “Forwarded messages can only be sent to one group chat,” while trying to forward a message which was received as a forward.
In case a user wants to forward the message to more groups than one, they will need to follow the process of selecting the text and forwarding it to the chat each time they wish to forward it, as it can no longer be sent to multiple selected chats
In 2019, Meta-owned WhatsApp had already put a limit to messages being forwarded by users on the platform to five chats at once. The restriction was imposed to tackle the growing spread of fake news and spam on the messaging app. Several negative elements were using the platform to spread rumours, lies and propaganda, creating unrest and a feeling of scare amongst people.
According to reports, the new restrictions limiting the forwarding of messages to one chat has been rolled out to some Android beta testers and will soon be available for all by default after the new WhatsApp update drops.
WhatsApp already has several tools to identify forward messages and keep the users informed. For example, if a message gets forwarded more than four times on the platform, WhatsApp marks it as ‘frequently forwarded’, alerting the receiver of the status of the message.
